About Us (Who We Are)

The South Australian Catholic Primary Principals’ Association (SACPPA) was founded in March 1981 and had its inaugural AGM at the former Wattle Park Teachers Centre. SACPPA was created to give a voice to Catholic Primary Principals and Deputies on forming education policy and development, as well as provide collegial and professional learning opportunities to its members. From time to time Principals are faced with changing and challenging issues regarding education and SACPPA offers an opportunity to discuss, research and formulate outcomes, which in collaboration with Catholic Education South Australia, (CESA), help generate solutions and impact positively on the delivery of education in SA Catholic Primary schools.

Members meet regularly throughout the school year under a general meeting format and participate in an annual conference which highlights specific professional development and educational initiatives relevant for our schools. Members are also supported with partial financial subsidies to attend conferences and workshops. There are many benefits associated with being a member of SACPPA, not the least of which is having your voice heard and sharing your views and thoughts on matters which affect policy and procedure in CESA primary schools.

A large focus of SACPPA’s work is the regional committees and portfolio groups who by way of liaising regularly help to identify and address the current topics and issues. Further discussion and evaluation of these topics with the wider SACPPA member base at general meetings is often a catalyst for change or reform on some matters.

Networking with colleagues provides members with insight and options for discussion as well as tapping into the vast knowledge base other members provide through their experiences and research. SACPPA is extremely fortunate to have the support of a well established sponsorship base and these businesses can offer excellent opportunities and timesaving benefits when searching for suppliers of services to our schools.

SACPPA’s Executive Committee comprises a diverse group of experienced Principals and Deputies who are a first point of contact for members seeking advice or information. They also have a key role in working with CESA and other educational bodies on matters of procedure and policy.

All members are updated regularly on developments affecting the Association and dialogue with the President or any Executive Member is encouraged to help shape meeting agendas and discussions throughout the school year. New members to SACPPA are always welcome and encouraged to participate and contribute in the ongoing work of SACPPA. SACPPA prides itself on fostering an environment where members’ views and opinions are respected and appreciated. SACPPA values its integrity as a professional body serving the community of Catholic primary educational leaders in South Australia.
